About the Magazine

From July 2006 through July 2010, Sparrow Tree Square published monthly magazines featuring public domain literature and vintage color and black-and-white illustrations. We now publish issues of Sparrow Tree Square once a season, to make time for working on some exciting new resources.

Each issue is centered around a topic or theme, and features a variety of literature that includes poems, traditional songs, stories, and folktales. Every issue also includes an introduction and book review, and issues from April 2007 onward include two more regular features: Connections and Activities. These features are designed to encourage further exploration of the topics introduced in the magazine. While all of the works of literature featured in the magazine are public domain to the best of Sparrow Tree Square's knowledge, the regular features are copyright the editor and not to be reprinted without permission.

The entire Sparrow Tree Square magazine archive is availble free of charge in a printable PDF format. You will need the free Adobe Reader program to view the files. To get started browsing the archive, click on a theme category on the left to see all of the issues in that category.
